  • D.C. Regional Event

    On Saturday, May 4, Hackley hosted a special tour of the Change Your Game exhibit with curator Meg Maher ’83 at the National Museum of American History for alumni in the D.C. area. Following the tour, they caught up with friends and former faculty over lunch at the Old Ebbit Grill. Our alumni also had an opportunity to meet our new Head of School Charles Franklin and hear news about the Hilltop.

    Alums Dominique ’13 and Doug ’15 Alpuche spent a day back on the Hilltop on March 14 speaking with Mr. Sykes’ Economics classes and Ms. Tranchida’s PostAP Mobile App Design class, respectively, and meeting with Hackley “Lifers” to discuss the Hilltop Award and the Lifers’ Fund Endowment.

    On Earth Day 2024, we welcomed back to the Hilltop Sarah Lucas ’01, a local farmer, forager, and educator, as our special guest. She led Lower School students  around campus and taught them how to forage for wild edible plants responsibly.

    For Women’s History Month in March, New York Times bestselling author Allison Pataki ’03 shared her favorite book picks, all written by female authors, on the “Today Show.” She also promoted her new historical novel, Finding Margaret Fuller. Allison was Hackley’s Commencement speaker in 2017.

    Mr. Sykes’ economics classes welcomed Erik Bostrom ’15 as a guest speaker on Friday, April 12. A former Hackley econ student himself, Erik pursued his bachelor’s degree in international studies and economics, followed by a master’s degree in international economics and strategic studies, both at Johns Hopkins University.

    Hackley Review Winter 2017-18: By Margie McNaughton Ford ’85: Hackley has been my home since I was an infant. I took my first steps in the Grille Room, rode my tricycle on the quad, had my first my kiss on Clark Oval, learned to drive a stick shift on the Hackley hills, was married in King Chapel, and it was there we joined Hackley friends in saying farewell to my dad this past June. Hackley and I have an intimate history.
