Hackley ROV Triumphs at MATE Regional Competition

Hackley’s ROV teams showcased remarkable engineering skills and resilience at the recent Marine Advanced Technology and Engineering (MATE) regional competition hosted by Villanova University.

For many, it was a first-time experience that felt like a whirlwind of activity. Despite facing some technical challenges, our junior and sophomore teams demonstrated exemplary perseverance. Even after encountering electrical issues, the team worked tirelessly to address the problem. Their spirit of dedication was unmistakable and impressed the judges and general audience.

The ROV also earned the "Best Design" award for its innovative design.

Our senior-led team, which included sophomores, not only secured the best product demonstration, but also clinched first place overall — a first for any Hackley team! Their success is a testament to the hard work and passion that defines our engineering program. The first-place finish has qualified Hackley for the World Championships in Tennessee this coming June.

As our team prepares for this prestigious event, we extend our deepest gratitude to all families and students for your continuous support!
