Lower School Kindergarten Co-Teacher Leave Replacement

Hackley Lower School, a K-4 division serving approximately 210 students on a 285-acre campus, seeks a Kindergarten Co-Teacher leave replacement from August 19 through October 18, 2024. Kindergarten Co-Teachers are responsible for the general supervision and management of all aspects of a classroom of approximately 16 students, including their academic, social and moral growth.

Lead teachers work closely with other teachers on their grade level as well as specialists and colleagues in the K-12 community. Qualifications:
  • Three or more years of elementary teaching experience in early childhood or lower elementary grades
  • Master ’s Degree in Elementary Education preferred

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood/elementary education
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment at all times
  • Ability to find joy in working with elementary aged children
  • Ability to develop collaborative rapport with children, parents and colleagues
  • Dedication to teaching and exploring issues of diversity and inclusivity with students and colleagues
  • Strong leadership qualities and skills
  • Ability to implement and refine a high-quality, age appropriate curriculum
  • Ability to successfully engage students with the goal of fostering their cognitive and social emotional growth
  • Knowledge of a variety of classroom management strategies
  • Effective organizational and planning skills, writing skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of balanced literacy, reading assessments and Singapore math
 
Specific Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Implementation of academic curriculum across various subject areas
  • Implementation of Responsive Classroom and character education program
  • Ability to differentiate instruction across content areas
  • Maintenance of timely records on all students – including attendance, portfolios and assessment data
  • Managing parent communications including regular conferences, phone calls, emails, website updates and newsletters
  • Communicating issues to the Director in a timely fashion
  • Supervision of lunch and recess, including one late afternoon duty, dismissal of students daily
  • Attendance at weekly grade level team meeting and all faculty meetings – both whole school and lower school
  • Attendance at Back to School night on September 26, 2024

Lower School Lead Teachers report directly to the Lower School Director.

Salary
The salary range for this position is a prorated amount between $59,107-$109,566, with experience informing a base salary as published in Hackley’s faculty salary stage scale.
