The Lower School science program provides opportunities that engage students’ interest and stimulate them to ask questions about their surroundings.
Students learn and apply the scientific method at increasing levels of sophistication to major areas of study -- from living organisms and simple machines, to meteorology, astronomy, biology, ecology, earth science, physics, chemistry and health--that are integrated with subjects encountered in the rest of their classroom experience and become a natural part of the way students learn to investigate the world around them. In addition, Hackley’s expansive, wooded campus provides a perfect natural laboratory for young scientists investigating the natural world around them.
