Lower School

Character Education

The Hackley Lower School Character Education program seeks to create an even better, safer, kinder and more supportive school environment for our students, faculty, and our community, consistent with Hackley’s mission to “challenge students to grow in character” and with our motto, “Enter here to be and find a friend.”
Each year, the Lower School faculty selects five “virtues,” traits central to the development of true character in a child, which are integrated into the curriculum across the school year through assemblies and other fun projects and activities. Some virtues highlighted are Friendship, Leadership, Curiosity, Grit and Appreciation.
