Culture of Philanthropy

Philanthropy at Hackley is an investment in today’s students, teachers, coaches, staff, programs and facilities. For nearly 125 years, the generosity of our community has helped ensure that the educational experience on the Hilltop is exceptional. Gifts of any amount are welcome and help to sustain and strengthen our School. There are a number of ways to make an impact on the Hilltop:

The Hackley Fund
The School’s top philanthropic priority, the Hackley Fund contributes a significant portion of our operating budget each year, directly impacting the people and programs that make daily life and learning on the Hilltop special. Your annual gift supports teacher compensation and benefits, classroom technology and supplies, financial aid, maintenance of our beautiful campus and much more. The Hackley Fund keeps our mission in motion.

Endowment and Capital Gifts
Hackley’s endowment provides resources that will sustain the School for generations. The funds are invested and a board-determined percentage of the endowment income is spent each year, ensuring the preservation of principal. Income from the endowment funds critical programs and reduces reliance on tuition increases to meet our annual operating budget. Endowments can be restricted to particular programs or can be unrestricted, allowing flexibility for the School to invest in our areas of greatest need. Current priorities for endowment giving include financial aid, faculty support, public purpose and experiential education.

Capital gifts also enable donors to make a lasting impact, supporting the construction of transformative facilities that will enrich the Hackley experience. Our current priority is construction of the Center for the Creative Arts and Technology
