Kassy Fritz, Director of College Counseling

Born and raised on school campuses, Kassy brings 35 years of experience in secondary schools to her work as Director of College Counseling. Prior to Hackley, Kassy led the college offices at Phillips Academy, St. Andrew’s School (DE) and The Marymount School (NY) in addition to her experience working at Taft School, Westminster School, Boston College, Groton School and Barnard College.

Beyond college counseling, Kassy has taught French, coached lacrosse and ice hockey, and served as a class dean, dorm counselor and institutional researcher.  Kassy graduated from Dartmouth College and earned a master’s degree from Boston College. She is keenly interested in developing and supporting a comprehensive college program that aligns with the student experience through the arc of their high school journey.

Kassy works to integrate the College Counseling Office’s goals with those of the school and its curriculum. She believes that the life-skills embedded in the college process can and should support the ethos of Hackley’s portrait of a graduate to “challenge students to grow in character, scholarship, and accomplishment, to offer unreserved effort, and to learn from the varying perspectives and backgrounds in our community and the world.” Kassy’s husband, Tom, introduced her to Hackley when he was on the faculty early in his teaching career. Together, they have built a life centered on education and in school communities with their two children, John (23) and Caroline (22), and they enjoy time as a family in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
