Major Gifts Officer
Hackley School seeks a Major Gifts Officer to join the Advancement Team. The Major Gifts Officer will collaborate with advancement staff, school leaders, and volunteer leaders, and will manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of assigned donor prospects to secure gifts of $50,000 and above payable over a period of up to five years.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Director of Advancement and is a member of the Advancement Team.
Specific Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Managing a portfolio of up to 150 prospective donors, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding them through the process of making a major gift using specific metrics to track activity and report on outcomes.
- Helping donors accomplish their philanthropic goals by learning about their interests and determining where those interests intersect with the needs of the School.
- Soliciting Hackley Fund (annual fund) gifts of all sizes at various times during the year, as needed, in support of the Director of the Hackley Fund
- Collaborate with Advancement Team colleagues, the Head of School, members of the Board of Trustees, and key volunteers regarding cultivation and solicitation strategies and the planning and staffing of cultivation and stewardship related events.
- Develop and promote Hackley’s planned giving program.
- An ability to work/travel some nights and weekends as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Prior experience with soliciting major gifts, preferably in an independent school or higher education setting.
- Transferable sales and/or marketing experience in an unrelated field also will be considered.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge database preferred.
- A strategic fundraiser with strong interpersonal skills who is able to communicate with passion the mission of Hackley School and who has a proven ability to build relationships with many different constituencies.
- A successful and energetic individual preferably with campaign experience, including recruiting, supporting, and coordinating volunteers.
- A dynamic representative of the School who is passionate about education, the work of Hackley School, and who is sincerely interested in the interests and activities of others.
- A demonstrated entrepreneurial and self-motivated spirit.
- Understanding of and appreciation for all elements of a high-achieving advancement team, especially the critical role major giving plays to drive annual giving success; knowledge of planned giving vehicles.
- A team player with a healthy sense of humor and a good balance of confidence and humility.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this 12-month administrative position is $87,500 to $130,000.
