Athletes of the Week – Week of Oct. 7

Every week, the Athletics department highlights some exceptional Hackley Hornets who are helping to spur on their teams.

Girls’ Tennis: Isabella Barriera ’25  
Bella played phenomenal tennis at No. 2 singles. Her grit, determination and fight on the court has led her to some impressive victories over the past week!  
 
Football: Hugo Everitt ’25  
Hugo had a huge game for the Hornets, recording two rushing touchdowns in a great game against St. Dominic’s of Long Island. Hugo is instrumental in every part of the game. He went 4-for-5, kicking extra points, and had five tackles in the game. 
 
Girls’ Soccer: Erys Burton ’28
Erys has been a stalwart playing center midfield for the Hornets. She has played every minute of every game and has been solid on the offensive and defensive side of the field. She also is the team’s corner kick extraordinaire.
 
Boys’ Soccer: Remy Becker ’25 
This senior captain had a goal in each of his last two contests. His leadership has been instrumental in the team’s success this season.

Field Hockey: Nora Esposito ’28
Nora did an outstanding job this week defending Fieldston’s top player and scored a goal in the game. She has been an integral part of the Hornets’ midfield all season.

Cross Country: Rafael Castro ’25
Rafael covered the 5k course in 16:57, an average pace under 5:30 per mile. His monumental effort earned him 5th place overall in a field of 100 varsity runners.
 
Cross Country: Caitlin Morrow ’27
Caitlin raced with confidence and grit last Saturday at the Brewster Invitational. She covered the rolling 5k course in a blistering fast time of 20:34, an average pace of under 6:40 per mile! Her effort placed her 5th overall in a field of 63 varsity runners.
