Meaghan O’Callaghan Joins Hackley Admissions Team

We are pleased to welcome Meghan O’Callaghan to the Hackley admissions team in the 2014-15 school year. Meghan comes to us from Lawrence Woodmere Academy, a PS-12 school on Long Island, where she has been Director of Admissions for the last two years.

Prior to this, she spent three years teaching Grade 1 at LWA, though she has over ten years of Lower School teaching experience, including work in Kindergarten and Grade 3 at schools in Lynbrook, NY and in Manhattan. Meghan has her BA in English from Siena College and a MST in Elementary Education from Fordham University. She has also done coursework at Columbia Teacher’s College. All who met her during her visits commented on her natural warmth and her outgoing, friendly demeanor. We know she will be a great member of our team.

In her relatively short time running the Admissions Office for LWA, Meghan has introduced some important initiatives, including the revamping of the School’s website and the expansion of the school’s social networking efforts, including establishing their presence on Twitter and Pinterest. She and her husband Tom have a seven-year-old daughter, and Meghan is an avid triathlete, having competed in numerous Olympic and sprint distance events over the years. She has also used her athleticism to help raise money for and awareness of breast cancer research by participating in 5K runs and Breast Cancer Walks.

We are grateful to Jennifer Bonanno, who has served as our Interim Assistant Director for Lower School admissions these last two years. Jennifer stepped into the role with no elementary admissions experience, learned an extraordinary amount in a very short time, and works extremely hard on behalf of the School and our families. She has helped us launch many new and important online initiatives with our applying families, including Lower School blog posts and our very first webinar for applying families. And she is a fun person to have on our team. We appreciate Jenn’s work to date and in the coming months, as we begin Meghan’s transition into our office.
