Athletes of the Week – Week of Sept. 30

Gemma had a great week with five goals and one assist in Hackley’s last two games playing center midfield. On Sept. 28, Gemma scored a hat trick against Fieldston at their homecoming game. Gemma scored three of the Hornets’ four goals in what was a very competitive Ivy League game between the second and third place teams. The Hornets won the game 4-1, having previously tied 0-0 in their first meeting with Fieldston at the beginning of the season. On Sept. 30, in Hackley’s 8-1 victory over Avenues, Gemma scored two goals and had one assist. 

 

Will had a breakout game against a very good Pingry team two weeks ago. He had seven catches for 102 yards and two touchdowns in a 22-18 win.

 

Emelia was an integral part of Hackley’s intense overtime game with Fieldston. She stepped up to defend in countless situations and played extremely tough, never backing down and showing no fear. Emelia has been a starter all year in her first year on the varsity team, and she has been a huge part of the Hornets’ successful opening to the season.
