Athletes of the Week – Week of April 7
Every week, the Athletics department highlights some exceptional Hackley Hornets who are helping to spur on their teams.
Boys’ Lacrosse: Remy Becker ’25
Remy has been outstanding on the defensives side of the ball for the Hornets in the first three games of the season. He is leading the team in ground balls and taking face offs with over a 50% success rate, despite being a long pole. He also had the lone goal against Fordham.
Girls’ Lacrosse: Brooke Koffler ’25
Brooke scored 27 goals and had four assists in the team’s first four games. She has been dominant all over the field and has 44 draw controls in these four games.
Baseball: Dean Chung ’25
Dean has had a remarkable start to the baseball season. In his first two games, Dean went 5-8 with a .750 slugging percentage. His current batting average is .625, and he has five RBIs in two games!
Softball: Andy Hegarty ’25
Andy had an incredible week. In two games, she has batted .700, hit for cycle versus Riverdale, and has had zero earned runs and16 strikeouts.
Track & Field: Macey McLane ’26
Macey had an exceptional day on Saturday at the Pirate Relays in Pearl River. She ran an excellent leg on the 4x800 relay team, which took 1st place overall and currently has the top time in the entire state of New York. As an individual, Macey earned another gold medal, winning the 3000m by over 20 seconds. It was a great start to the season for a key member of the varsity squad.
