ISRP Students Present Research, Win Awards at WESEF and NYSSEF
During spring break, 10 of our Independent Science Research Program students presented their research at the Westchester Science and Engineering Fair (WESEF) and the NY State Science and Engineering Fair (NYSSEF). The fairs represent the culmination of students’ dedication and hard work over the past two to three years.
Hackley students won a total of 14 awards, including two finalist spots for the International Science and Engineering Fair.
More than 700 student science research projects from the region presented their research at the nation’s largest regional science fair, WESEF, on March 16. Nine students from Hackley’s ISRP participated — juniors Matthew Gluckman, Vivek Malik, Jimmy Mulosmani and Alicia Zhu, and seniors Allison Chin, Remi Myers, Sam Nadol, Eliza Podvalny and NJ Roc-Sennett.
They won the following awards:
- Innovations in Biological Sciences Research Award: Allison Chin ’24 and Eliza Podvalny ’24
- Momentive Women in Science Award (awarded to top students who demonstrate a promising future in science): NJ Roc-Sennett ’24
- Visionary Engineering Award: Sam Nadol ’24
- Fourth Place in Category Award: Alicia Zhu ’25
- Third Place in Category Award: Jimmy Mulosmani ’25
- First Place in Category Award: Vivek Malik ’25
Vivek also was named an International Science and Engineering Fair Finalist, which is awarded to the top 20 overall scoring projects. Finalists will compete at ISEF in May.

Juniors Matthew Gluckman, Vivek Malik and Alicia Zhu, and seniors Aniketh Arvind and NJ Roc-Sennett qualified to present their work with 175 other students at the Lightning Round of the New York State Science and Engineering Fair (NYSSEF), held on March 25.
Hackley students won the following prizes:
- Honarable Mention: Matthew Gluckman ’25, NJ Roc-Sennett ’24, Alicia Zhu ’25
- First Place in Category Award: Aniketh Arvind ’24, Vivek Malik ’25
- International Science and Engineering Fair Finalist
Aniketh also was named an International Science and Engineering Fair Finalist, which is awarded to the top project in each of the 15 categories. Finalists will compete at ISEF in May.
