Athletes of the Week – Week of April 15
Every week, the Athletics department highlights some exceptional Hackley Hornets who are helping to spur on their teams.
Baseball: Sam Suniewick ’25
Sam has been a monster offensively for the Hornets. Currently he leads the team in batting average with a .438, and in his last game, he had two home runs and one double with five RBIs.
Softball: Elle Karger ’26
Elle has been on fire in the Hornets’ last three games, batting .375 with an on base percentage of .615. She has driven in seven runs and scored three, and she has played flawlessly at second base.
Boys’ Tennis: Alex Chorny ’26
Alex is 2-0 at two singles and has been winning in dominant fashion. He is super steady and consistent and has been the anchor of the Hornets’ team thus far.
Girls’ Lacrosse: Nora E. ’28
Nora scored five goals in the Hornets’ overtime loss to Fieldston. She also took the draw and made a major difference in the game. With eight goals in the past two games and 21 goals on the season, Nora is the second-leading scorer on the team.
Track and Field: Ashley Hollingsworth ’26
Ashley had a great week for the Hornets’ track and field team. On Saturday, she was one leg of the girls’ freshmen/sophomore 4 x 400 m relay. The team won the race with a time of 4:28, with a winning margin of 27 seconds from their closest competitors. At the week’s Ivy League meet, Ashley won the individual 400 m dash and ran a strong second leg on the winning girls’ 4 x 100 relay.
Track and Field: JP Ngbokoli ’26
JP is shining in his first year on the track and field team. This week, he put forth top 3 performances in the high jump, long jump javelin and the 4 x 100 m relay. His versatility has been a huge asset for the team in our early meets.
